Hardwood Flooring
"Carolina Carpet, Hardwood and Tile" offers fine quality hardwood flooring from all of the major manufacturers including Bruce, BR-111, Columbia, Shaw, and Mohawk. Hardwood floors come in many different types, styles, and colors. Our professional staff at Carolina Carpet can assist you in making the right choice for your home.

Solid Hardwood Floors - made from a solid piece of hardwood cut into wood planks that are 3/4" thick. Solid Hardwood Floors are for above ground level areas only and are not recommended for installing on dry concrete slabs.

Engineered Hardwood Floors - made from several piles of wood that are glued and laminated together to form a wood plank. They range in thickness from 1/4" to just over a half inch.

Floating Wood Floors - are engineered wood floors that can hover over various sub-floors, such as dry concrete slabs, Plywood (OSB), and some types of existing flooring. Floating wood floors are never secured directly to the substrate. The tongue-and-grooved plank edges are locked together. Many floating wood floors are installed by either staple-down, glue-down, or the floating installation method.

Longstrip Hardwood Floors - are an engineered construction but are much longer and broader. The top layer of a long strip plank has 2-3 rows of thin hardwood strips spliced together to form a solid surface. This gives the appearance of having 2-3 planks locked together, but it is just one board. Longstrip planks can be glued-down, stapled, or floated over a wide variety of sub-floors and installed in almost any area of the home.

Exotic Hardwood Floors - are used to describe hardwood species from around the World. These wood species are not found in North America and are imported from Australia, Africa, Brazil, and the Far East. Exotic hardwoods offer unique wood graining and more unique colorations. Exotic hardwood floors are available in engineered and solid wood construction.
